The unique charm and historic character of Brockport is evident along Main Street, home to quaint shops and village services.
Named for a builder named Hiel Brockway who moved to the area in 1817 and began purchasing land, Brockport is reported to be a shortened form of Brockway’s Port.
Brockport is home to The College at Brockport State University of New York; a public comprehensive four-year college. Athletic facilities include an outdoor stadium, ice arena, baseball/softball complex, and a fitness center. The Fine Arts Center includes the Hartwell Dance Theater, the Rose L. Strasser Dance Studio, and 2 art galleries.
Local attractions in the Village of Brockport include recreational areas, parks, historic sites, and the Erie Canal itself.
The Morgan-Manning House is one of the historic homes in the Village. Built in 1854, it was destroyed by a fire in 1964. In 1965, restoration began to bring the homestead and it’s furnishings back to it’s original state. Today, tours of the house are available to the public.
The Arrowhead Golf Club was created in 2003 and has since emerged as one of the premier golf course destinations in the area. Designed with every skill level in mind, this course provides challenges and rewards with every swing! The Timberlodge Banquet Facility is the setting for many occasions.

Barry Street Park offers tennis courts, basketball court, and plenty of open space for activities for all ages. . . including recreational football games.
Hafner Park is home to a playground, indoor and outdoor pavilion, 4 soccer fields, a fishing pond, a skating pond, and a horse arena!
An interesting fact . . .
Strand Theater, locally operated and maintained, is the county’s oldest operating first run movie theater, and it’s located right in the Village of Brockport!
